CoDA Service Conference 2021

A number of significant changes were approved; the most important affects every CoDA meeting. A change was approved in the wording of Tradition 11 which takes effect immediately. The intent is to stay current with technology. The amended wording is:

Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, films, television, and all other public forms of communication.

To clarify : Tradition 11 speaks to members of CoDA maintaining anonymity when representing CoDA to outside entities. Tradition 11 does not speak of recovery meetings, literature, virtual meetings, traditional face to face meetings, recovery conventions and recovery videos and audios. Tradition 11 does not forbid individuals from participating in recovery online.

Some of the other approved motions are listed below.

Voting Entities now have the right to bring motions directly to CSC . (Each state in the US is a Voting Entity.)

The following seven CoDA documents are considered foundational documents:
The CoDA Twelve Steps, the CoDA Twelve Traditions, the CoDA Twelve Service Concepts, the CoDA Twelve Promises, the CoDA Welcome, the Short Version of the CoDA Welcome, and the CoDA Preamble.

The Newcomers Handbook will be updated and expanded, by adding Service as the 5th part of the CoDA program.
 1. Attending meetings; 2. Sharing and fellowship; 3. Working the steps; 4.Sponsorship; 5. Service

CSC approved a new product called “Joy In The Journey, Recover With Color “ as a new piece of CoDA literature. It’s an adult coloring book.

The illustrations and companion content informational pages can be enjoyed as a visual expression of the principles of the CoDA recovery program. This piece of literature offers a unique way to reach the codependent who still suffers.
It offers the Fellowship a fun way to explore our Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Promises. The illustrator is a member of the CoDA Fellowship.

CSC endorsed the longer version of the Serenity Prayer as a service piece for those groups who wish to use it.

God, Grant me Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

Courage to change the things I can, and
 Wisdom to know the difference.

Grant me Patience with the changes that take time,

Appreciation of all that I have,
Tolerance of those with different struggles,

And the Strength to get up and try again, One Day at a Time.
